Berserk Gorilla

Berserk Gorilla was first introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in early 2004 as part of the 'Battle Pack 3: Monster League' set. The card represents the evolution of early aggressive playstyles, designed specifically for players who prioritized high attack power over defensive stability. Its effect, which forces the monster into defense position if it attacks, was a thematic nod to the card's volatile, unmanageable nature, requiring players to balance its overwhelming offense against the tactical vulnerability created by its berserk state.

The card's design features an aggressive, muscular primate, a common trope in early 2000s fantasy card games meant to appeal to players seeking 'beatdown' archetypes. As a Rare card within the Battle Pack series, it served as a reliable staple for many years, reflecting the era's focus on simple but effective card interactions. It remains a recognizable piece of the game's history, marking a period where high-attack monsters with restrictive drawbacks were essential components of competitive deck-building.
