Blackbird Close

Blackbird Close was first introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game as part of the Legendary Duelists: Season 2 set, released in early 2021. The card originates from the archetypal support designed for Crow Hogan, a central character from the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's anime series, specifically focusing on his signature Blackwing monsters. Its design objective was to provide utility for the Blackwing strategy by allowing players to negate monster effects while facilitating special summons from the graveyard, echoing the high-speed, aggressive playstyle associated with the character in the source material.

The card was released as a common rarity in this compilation set, which was designed to reprint popular cards from earlier Legendary Duelists expansions while adding new support for fan-favorite themes. The illustration features the sleek, mechanical aesthetic consistent with the Blackwing archetype, emphasizing the bird-like synergy that defines the deck. Upon its release, it was received as a functional, accessible tool for budget-conscious players looking to enhance their Blackwing decks with modern utility, maintaining the thematic continuity established years prior in the original 5D's era.
