Where it came from
Breakthrough Skill was originally introduced in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in 2013 as part of the Cosmo Blazer booster set. Designed as a flexible trap card capable of negating an opponent's monster effect both on the field and from the graveyard, it became a staple of competitive play for its versatility in disrupting complex board states. The card features a distinct industrial aesthetic that aligns with the mechanical and tactical themes prevalent in the era of its debut.
The Quarter Century Stampede set, which includes this specific Secret Rare printing, was released to commemorate the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Yu-Gi-Oh! card game. This version utilizes the specialized foil treatment and the signature anniversary stamp that distinguishes modern collector sets from original runs. Like other reprints in the series, it is intended to provide long-time players and collectors with premium visual iterations of classic, strategically significant cards.
