Burst Breath

Burst Breath was released in the Legacy of Darkness expansion in 2003, a pivotal set in the early North American run of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game. During this era, the game was rapidly expanding its mechanical complexity, and the set introduced several cards intended to provide players with more aggressive board control options to counter the dominance of defensive strategies prevalent at the time.

The card features an illustration of a dragon unleashing a torrent of energy, a design choice consistent with the high-fantasy aesthetic established by Konami’s art team for the early game. As a common rarity card, it was widely accessible to the player base and served as a functional, tactical tool rather than a collector's piece, becoming a staple in various deck builds that utilized high-level Dragon-type monsters to clear the field.
