Burst Breath

Burst Breath was originally introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game as part of the Rise of the True Dragons Structure Deck, released in 2016. This deck was designed to revitalize the archetype surrounding Level 7 and 8 Dragon-type monsters, providing players with a cohesive engine centered on graveyard recursion and high-level special summoning. As a trap card, it serves a tactical utility role, allowing players to tribute a Dragon monster to destroy all face-up monsters on the field whose defense is equal to or lower than the tributed monster's original attack.

The card's design and mechanical intent reflect a classic style of board clearing typical of early-to-mid era trap support. By requiring a tribute, it offers a high-risk, high-reward method for players to break board stalemates during a period when the game was shifting toward faster, more resource-intensive plays. While it is a common rarity card, it remains a staple of the 'Dragons' structure identity, praised by casual players for its simplicity and thematic synergy with the powerful behemoths featured in the deck.
