Where it came from
The Buzzsaw Shark was originally released in the 2020 core set Ignition Assault before being reprinted as a common card in the 2021 Tin of Ancient Battles. This reprint served to provide players with broader access to the monster, which became a staple in Water-attribute strategies due to its ability to facilitate Rank 4 Xyz plays. The card fits within the broader aesthetic of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game's ocean-themed monster archetypes.
The design of the Buzzsaw Shark reflects the series' tradition of blending biological elements with mechanical motifs. As a Level 4 Fish-type monster, it was specifically engineered to support the Shark archetype, allowing players to special summon another Level 4 Fish from their deck. Its inclusion in the 2021 Tin reflects the set's purpose of consolidating key cards from the previous year's releases for competitive and casual deck builders alike.
