Call of Darkness

Call of Darkness was originally released as a common card in the Magic Ruler expansion in 2002 before appearing as a rare in the 2008 Champion Pack: Game Six. The card was designed for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game to introduce specific tactical disruption, allowing a player to force an opponent to discard a card at the cost of the opponent drawing one, or conversely, forcing the opponent to reveal their hand. It represents the darker, more psychological side of the game's trap card mechanics.

The visual design features an eerie, atmospheric illustration consistent with the early aesthetic of the game, emphasizing thematic gloom to match its namesake. While the card did not shift the competitive meta upon its release, it remains a notable piece of the Champion Pack series, which was distributed primarily through hobby league tournaments to reward engaged players and collectors with distinct, rare-variant versions of classic card pool staples.
