Chaos Greed

Chaos Greed was first introduced in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game as part of the Pharaonic Guardian set, later seeing a wider release in the Dark Revelation Volume 2 compilation set. It was designed during a period when Konami was experimenting with high-risk, high-reward card mechanics, specifically cards that required removing large quantities of cards from play as a cost. The card reflects the thematic aesthetic of the early 2000s era of the game, focusing on punishing players who pushed their deck resources to the limit.

The design of Chaos Greed aimed to balance aggressive deck thinning with a restrictive activation requirement. By demanding that the player remove four cards from their hand from play, the card sought to create a tension between maintaining card advantage and seeking powerful drawing capabilities. While it did not become a staple in competitive tournament play due to the severity of its cost, it remains a notable piece for collectors interested in the experimental card design philosophy that defined the secondary booster sets of the classic era.
