Chimera the Flying Mythical Beast

Chimera the Flying Mythical Beast was introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in the 2010 expansion set Absolute Powerforce. As a fusion monster requiring the combination of Gazelle the King of Mythical Beasts and Berfomet, the card draws its design roots directly from the early days of the original anime and manga series. It serves as an iconic example of the classic fusion mechanics that defined the game's initial era, representing a nostalgic bridge for players transitioning into the faster-paced gameplay introduced by later sets.

The card's design features the signature aggressive aesthetic of early monster cards, characterized by a surreal, hybrid anatomy that reflects the mythological themes prevalent in the game's foundation. While newer support cards and updated versions have since evolved the monster's role in competitive strategy, the original ABPF-EN092 printing remains a notable relic of the 'Absolute Powerforce' release, capturing a period when the game focused heavily on reviving classic, recognizable monsters from the series' history for a modern card-pool context.
