Chimera the Flying Mythical Beast

Chimera the Flying Mythical Beast was originally introduced in the early days of the Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game, reflecting the series' focus on fusion mechanics. The card draws inspiration from the mythological Greek chimera, a hybrid creature depicted here as a blend of Gazelle the King of Mythical Beasts and Berfomet. Its design aesthetic captures the quintessential look of early 2000s monster art, characterized by aggressive poses and vibrant, distinct creature features.

The version from Legendary Collection 3: Yugi's World, released in 2012, served as a retrospective set honoring the iconic cards used by the protagonist, Yugi Muto. By reprinting this fusion monster in a super-rare format, Konami aimed to provide players and collectors with an accessible way to acquire cards that defined the game's foundational era. The collection was well-received by the community for its high-quality foil treatments and its focus on nostalgia for the original anime series.
