Covering Fire

Covering Fire was originally introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in the Pharaoh's Servant expansion in 2002. It serves as a tactical trap card designed to bolster a monster's attack power during damage calculation, reflecting the strategic emphasis on combat tricks prevalent in the game's early competitive era. The artwork and mechanical identity were developed by Konami’s design team in Japan, intended to provide players with a situational method to overcome stronger opponents in battle.

The Dark Revelation Volume 3 set, released in 2006, functioned as a comprehensive compilation set that allowed players to acquire cards from previously released boosters like Pharaoh's Servant in a reprinted format. As a rare card within this collection, the version labeled DR3-EN120 serves as a window into the evolution of card frames and printing standards during the mid-2000s, maintaining its original utility while becoming a piece of set-completion history for long-term collectors.
