Provenance

Where it came from

Covering Fire was released in the War of the Giants: Reinforcements set, a product designed by Konami for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game to revitalize the draft-play experience. Released around 2013, this set repurposed a variety of cards from the franchise's history to create a balanced environment for players to build decks on the fly, offering a departure from the standard booster pack experience which typically focuses on new card introductions.

The card features an illustration depicting a defensive battlefield maneuver, consistent with the thematic design of trap cards intended to mitigate incoming damage. While the artwork and mechanics were originally designed for earlier competitive formats, its inclusion in this compilation allowed newer players to access older utility cards. It is considered a common-rarity utility piece, valued more for its functional role in game mechanics than for its rarity or aesthetic collectibility.
