Provenance

Where it came from

Crystal Promise is a spell card from the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, first introduced in the Ra Yellow Mega Pack released in 2012. The set was designed to reprint iconic cards from the GX era, focusing specifically on the cards associated with Jesse Anderson’s Crystal Beast archetype. The artwork features the distinct gemstone aesthetic of the Crystal Beast monsters, emphasizing the card's function as a support mechanic to special summon them directly from the spell and trap zone.

The card was designed by Konami’s design team to provide essential utility for the Crystal Beast engine, allowing players to bypass the standard summoning conditions of the monsters. Its secret-rare printing in the Ra Yellow Mega Pack was highly sought after by collectors for its intricate etched foil pattern. Upon release, it was well-received by players who utilized the archetype, as it significantly increased the speed and consistency of decks centered around these unique monsters.
