Provenance

Where it came from

D - Shield was released in the 2006 Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG expansion set Enemy of Justice. The set was centered around the Destiny Hero archetype, famously utilized by the antagonist Aster Phoenix in the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX animated series. As a trap card specifically designed to support the Destiny Hero monster class, it reflects the series' narrative focus on these darker, strategic counterparts to the protagonists' decks.

The card features artwork depicting a stylized, metallic shield emblem synonymous with the Destiny Hero aesthetic. It was designed to provide defensive utility by shifting a Destiny Hero monster to defense position and granting it temporary immunity to destruction. Upon its release, it served as a functional, if situational, common-tier staple for players looking to bolster the longevity of their Destiny Hero cards in competitive play.
