Danger!? Tsuchinoko?

Danger!? Tsuchinoko? was first introduced as part of the Cybernetic Horizon booster set in 2018, before being included in the 2022 Structure Deck: Dark World. The card is based on the cryptid of the same name from Japanese folklore, a legendary snake-like creature often rumored to have a wide, portly body. This design choice aligns with the broader Danger! archetype, which draws inspiration from various urban legends and mysterious creatures, translating them into chaotic, high-energy card effects.

The card was designed to facilitate board swarming by allowing players to special summon it from the hand, provided the opponent fails to discard it at random. This mechanic reflects the elusive nature of the tsuchinoko, which is famously difficult to catch in mythology. Upon its release, the card gained significant competitive attention for its ability to generate resource advantage without consuming the player's normal summon, securing its place as a staple in various deck builds over the years.
