Decode Talker

Decode Talker was first introduced as the signature ace monster of Yusaku Fujiki, the protagonist of the Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS anime series, which debuted in 2017. As the first Link Monster to be prominently featured in the series, it was designed to showcase the new Link Summoning mechanic, which fundamentally altered the game's playing field by requiring monsters to be placed in specific zones. The design features a cybernetic warrior aesthetic with distinct holographic elements, reflecting the show's virtual reality setting within the network known as LINK VRAINS.

The Star Pack VRAINS set, released in 2018, served as a budget-friendly collection designed to make key cards from the VRAINS era more accessible to players. While the initial printings of Decode Talker featured higher rarities such as Ultra Rare, the version found in this set was released as a common card to ensure wider distribution. It was well-received by players at the time for its versatile ability to gain attack power based on the number of monsters it points to, making it a functional and iconic staple of the era's competitive landscape.
