Where it came from
Desert Locusts was originally introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in 2005 as part of the Cybernetic Revolution expansion set. Designed as a Synchro Monster, its mechanics were intended to provide players with a disruptive tool, allowing them to discard cards from an opponent's hand during the turn it is summoned. The card reflects the aggressive, fast-paced playstyle favored in that era of the game, characterized by its reliance on insect-type synergy.
The 2020 Tin of Lost Memories Mega Pack, which includes the MP20-EN198 printing, served as a comprehensive retrospective set. This release was designed to reprint sought-after cards from the previous year's major core sets, making them more accessible to the wider community. By featuring the card as a common rarity in this compilation, Konami ensured that players seeking efficient utility monsters could integrate them into their decks without the premium cost of higher-rarity original prints.
