Dimension Sphinx

Dimension Sphinx was released as part of the Yu-Gi-Oh! The Dark Side of Dimensions Movie Pack, which debuted in 2016 to coincide with the twentieth anniversary of the franchise and the theatrical release of the feature film. The set was designed to introduce cards used by the central characters, Seto Kaiba and Yugi Muto, during their high-stakes duels in the movie, reflecting a shift toward the 'Dimension Summoning' mechanic that allowed monsters to be summoned from the extra deck with unique conditions.

The card features an illustration of a colossal, stone-like construct that mirrors the aesthetic of ancient Egyptian monuments reimagined through a sleek, futuristic lens consistent with the film's visual direction. It functions as a trap card intended to punish opponents for attacking, a design choice meant to capture the tension of the movie's cinematic duels where back-and-forth strategies were emphasized to maintain audience interest throughout the film's climax.
