Dimensional Prison

Dimensional Prison was originally introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in the 2007 Tactical Evolution expansion. It was designed as a strategic trap card intended to disrupt aggressive playstyles by banishing an attacking monster face-down, effectively removing threats from the field without triggering graveyard-based effects. The card's mechanics were specifically crafted to counter the rising power of monsters that relied on self-revival or graveyard synergies, marking a shift toward more permanent forms of removal in the competitive meta of the time.

The inclusion of the card in the 2014 Cyber Dragon Revolution Structure Deck, under the collection number SDCR-EN033, served to provide players with an accessible, high-utility defensive tool. As a staple of mid-2000s competitive play, its artwork—depicting a monster being drawn into a crystalline vortex—was illustrative of the card’s banishing effect. It was well-received by the player base for its versatility, maintaining its status as a reliable side-deck or main-deck inclusion throughout various formats as a classic answer to turn-based combat.
