Dragon Nails

Dragon Nails was released in the Battles of Legend: Crystal Revenge booster set, which debuted in late 2022. This expansion was designed to bring a collection of supplemental cards to the Western market, gathering various pieces of support that had previously only appeared in the Japanese OCG (Official Card Game) landscape. As an Ultra Rare card, it serves as a specialized piece of support for 'Crystal Beast' decks, reflecting the ongoing effort by designers at Konami to modernize classic archetypes with newer, synergistic effects.

The card’s artwork and utility are rooted in the legacy of the 'Crystal Beast' monsters introduced in the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX era. By providing a protective buff to these monsters, the spell aligns with the design philosophy of increasing the viability of older archetypes in competitive formats. Its reception was largely defined by players looking to bolster the specific mechanics of the Crystal Beast theme, positioning the card as a functional utility piece for dedicated enthusiasts rather than a staple in high-level tournament play.
