Provenance

Where it came from

Evenly Matched was originally introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in the 2017 Circuit Break set. Designed as a high-impact trap card, it was crafted to provide players with a strategic board-breaking tool capable of balancing the game state when facing an opponent with an established presence. By forcing players to banish cards face-down until their field counts match the opponent's, the card introduced a unique mechanic that circumvented traditional graveyard-based protection.

The version from the 2021 Ghosts From the Past set, numbered GFTP-EN126, features the card in an Ultra Rare rarity. This reprint was part of a collector-focused product designed to bring popular, high-utility competitive staples to a wider audience. The artwork and design remain consistent with the original printing, emphasizing the card's function as a defensive equalizer that has become a perennial necessity in competitive tournament play due to its profound influence on field management.
