Evenly Matched

Evenly Matched was originally introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game in the 2017 set Circuit Break. It was designed as a high-impact trap card intended to provide second-player decks with a powerful tool to balance the board state, particularly against opponents who establish dominant fields early in a match. Its effect, which forces a player to banish cards until their field matches their opponent's, quickly became a staple in competitive play for its ability to dismantle complex defensive setups.

The version from Magnificent Mavens, numbered MAMA-EN099, was released in 2022 as part of a specialized box set that reprinted highly sought-after cards with updated rarities. This specific printing features the Ultra Rare treatment, which maintains the card's sleek, functional aesthetic while making it more accessible to the wider player base. It is widely regarded by the community as a quintessential 'side-deck' card, valued for its strategic utility in tournament environments rather than for its illustration alone.
