Flower Cardian Maple with Deer

Flower Cardian Maple with Deer was introduced in the 2016 expansion Invasion: Vengeance, representing a key archetype in the Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game. The set drew heavy inspiration from the traditional Japanese card game Hanafuda, specifically incorporating the aesthetic and seasonal imagery of the 'Maple and Deer' suit. By integrating these cultural motifs with complex effect-monster mechanics, the designers created a deck style that prioritizes rapid card drawing and field manipulation.

The visual design of the card leans into the stylized, high-contrast woodblock print style associated with Hanafuda decks. It was designed to function within a synergistic engine where the monster's ability to special summon itself triggers further plays, reflecting the fast-paced nature of the competitive meta at the time of its release. While the card is a common rarity, it remains a thematic centerpiece for players who appreciate the stylistic cohesion of the Flower Cardian series.
