Provenance

Where it came from

Frightfur Chimera made its debut in the 2015 Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game booster set Crossed Souls. It serves as a boss monster for the Frightfur archetype, which is used by the character Sora Perse in the Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V anime series. The design reflects the series' aesthetic of mixing stuffed animals with dark, industrial horror elements, representing a fusion of the Fluffal and Edge Imp creature types.

The card was illustrated to emphasize its grotesque, multi-limbed physiology, intended to showcase the destructive potential of the fusion mechanics introduced with the ARC-V era. Upon its release, it was regarded by players as a strategic centerpiece for dedicated Frightfur decks due to its ability to special summon monsters from either player's graveyard, cementing its role as a high-impact utility card within the competitive meta of the time.
