Gearfried the Iron Knight

Gearfried the Iron Knight debuted in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game as a signature monster for the character Joey Wheeler, reflecting his transition toward more tactical and equipment-focused strategies in the original anime series. Its design, featuring a suit of armor that destroys any equip spell card targeted at it, served as a mechanical representation of the character's rugged and unconventional dueling style, which often relied on brute force and specific supporting equipment cards.

The card was later re-released in the 2013 Legendary Collection 4: Joey's World Mega Pack, a set specifically curated to revisit the history of cards associated with the show's secondary protagonist. The design of the monster, rendered with a distinct heavy-metal aesthetic, was crafted to emphasize its defensive durability and volatile nature in battle. As a common rarity inclusion in this collection, the card was widely accessible to players looking to build themed decks based on the nostalgic era of the original series.
