Gearfried the Iron Knight

Gearfried the Iron Knight first appeared in the Pharaoh's Servant booster set, released in North America in 2002. As a key monster in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, its design draws heavily from the classic aesthetic of armored warriors common in fantasy media. The card was introduced during a formative period of the game, offering players a unique effect that allowed it to destroy any card equipped to it, reflecting its lore as a knight whose armor is constantly shed or broken.

The card's art was created by the team at Konami’s design studio, aiming to convey a sense of relentless, albeit volatile, martial strength. Upon its release, Gearfried was noted for its distinct 'Super Rare' holographic finish, which made it a sought-after piece for collectors focusing on the early iterations of the game. It became a staple in various deck archetypes that utilized equipment cards, solidifying its place in the history of competitive play during the early 2000s.
