Gem-Knight Lady Lapis Lazuli

Gem-Knight Lady Lapis Lazuli was released in the 2014 Secrets of Eternity set, a core booster expansion in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game. The card was designed to support the Gem-Knight archetype, a group of Earth-attribute monsters focused on fusion summoning. By requiring a specific Gem-Knight monster and any other Gem-Knight as materials, the card was engineered to function as a powerful burn-damage engine, reflecting the archetype’s recurring theme of utilizing graveyard resources to inflict direct damage to an opponent.

The aesthetic of the Gem-Knight series draws heavily on high-fantasy crystalline motifs, and Lady Lapis Lazuli serves as an evolved form of the earlier Gem-Knight Lapis. The artwork depicts the character adorned with vibrant blue gemstones, consistent with the visual language established for the archetype. Upon release, the card became a focal point for deck-builders looking to optimize Gem-Knight strategies due to its ability to send multiple monsters from the deck to the graveyard, a design choice that highlighted the combo-heavy nature of the game’s evolution during that era.
