Gift of the Martyr

Gift of the Martyr was originally introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in the Pharaoh's Servant expansion before being reprinted as a common in Dark Revelation Volume 3. Released in the mid-2000s, this compilation set was designed to make older, foundational cards accessible to a wider player base by consolidating powerful staples and niche support cards from several earlier sets into a single collection.

The card features an illustration depicting a mystical offering, consistent with the high-fantasy aesthetic established by Konami’s design team for the early era of the game. Mechanically, it functions as a Quick-Play Spell intended to bolster a monster's defense at the cost of the player's own life points. While it was never a staple of tournament play, it remains a recognized piece of early-era card design that highlights the risk-reward mechanics characteristic of the game's formative years.
