Gimmick Puppet Dreary Doll

Gimmick Puppet Dreary Doll was released as part of the 2024 Lost Art Promotion, an initiative by Konami to distribute promotional cards featuring the original, uncensored illustrations from the Japanese OCG versions of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game. These cards are distributed to participating hobby stores to reward customers for purchasing sealed products, filling a long-standing desire among collectors to possess the original artistic vision of various monsters that were otherwise altered for Western markets.

The character design originates from the Gimmick Puppet archetype, utilized by the character IV in the Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL anime series. The artwork, characterized by its macabre, porcelain-doll aesthetic, embodies the deck's sinister puppetry theme. By restoring the original illustration, the Lost Art release highlights the dark, gothic tone intended by the original designers, which had been previously softened in earlier standard English sets to comply with regional content guidelines.
