Where it came from
Gimmick Puppet Humpty Dumpty was first introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game as part of the Number Hunters set in 2013, before being reprinted as a Secret Rare in the 2014 Premium Gold collection. The card was designed to support the Gimmick Puppet archetype, a theme famously utilized by the antagonist IV in the Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL anime series. Its design reflects the series' penchant for macabre, clockwork-themed imagery, drawing inspiration from the nursery rhyme character but reimagining it as a sinister, mechanical entity.
The card features an effect that allows for the special summoning of another Gimmick Puppet from the hand, emphasizing the strategy of flooding the field to perform Xyz Summons. As a Secret Rare in the Premium Gold set, it utilized a distinct holographic texture that became a hallmark of the release. The card is noted by players for its role in enabling rapid playstyles, though its usage has historically been constrained by the specific synergy requirements of the Gimmick Puppet engine.
