Gladiator Beast Andal

Gladiator Beast Andal was released in the 2008 set Phantom Darkness as part of the Gladiator Beast archetype. This archetype, introduced in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, is defined by a tag-team mechanic that allows monsters to swap places after a battle to summon more powerful fusions. As a Level 4 Beast-type Normal monster, Andal served as a fundamental utility piece for players, particularly because its lack of an effect made it a target for support cards like Unexpected Dai in later years.

The artwork for the Gladiator Beast series, including Andal, draws heavily from Greco-Roman aesthetics, depicting creatures clad in gladiatorial armor. While the specific illustrator for this card is not credited individually in public databases, the series as a whole was designed to evoke a sense of ancient combat arenas. Upon its release in Phantom Darkness, the card was widely utilized by competitive players to facilitate the summoning of key fusion monsters, solidifying its place in the history of tournament-level play.
