Guard Penalty

Guard Penalty was first released in the Dark Revelation Volume 4 set, which served as a compilation series intended to reprint popular cards from earlier expansions. This particular set drew primarily from the Invasion of Chaos and Ancient Sanctuary eras of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, offering players a way to acquire essential staples and thematic support that had previously been difficult to source.

The card features an effect designed to punish opponents who utilize defensive stalling tactics, specifically by forcing a change in battle position. As a product of the mid-2000s design philosophy, it reflects the game's shift toward more aggressive interaction with the field. It is a part of the broader Konami card pool, illustrated by their internal studio artists who maintained the signature aesthetic of the era’s spell cards, prioritizing clear mechanical utility over complex narrative art.
