Gullveig of the Nordic Ascendant

Gullveig of the Nordic Ascendant was introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game as part of the broader Nordic archetype support designed to revitalize the playstyle surrounding the Aesir monsters. It debuted in the OCG before making its TCG appearance, serving as a critical engine piece that allows players to banish Nordic cards to summon specific monsters directly from the deck, thereby facilitating the rapid field presence required to summon high-level synchro or link monsters.

The card was included in OTS Tournament Pack 18, a set primarily distributed to official tournament stores to support competitive play through prize support. As a common rarity print within this pack, it provided a functional and accessible version of the card for players seeking to optimize their Nordic decks without the necessity of higher-rarity chase versions. The design reflects the mythological inspiration of the Nordic series, adapting the enigmatic figure of Gullveig from Norse lore into the modern mechanics of the link summon system.
