Simorgh, Bird of Ancestry

Simorgh, Bird of Ancestry was originally introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game as part of the broader Simorgh archetype, a group of Winged Beast monsters centered around Wind attribute synergy and tribute summoning mechanics. The character design draws heavily from Persian mythology, specifically the Simorgh, a benevolent, mythical bird described as being large enough to carry an elephant or a whale. This card serves as a thematic cornerstone for the archetype, emphasizing the avian aesthetic and the focus on controlling the field through its unique summoning conditions.

The OTS Tournament Pack 18 version, released in 2022, represents a functional re-release intended for tournament play. These packs are distributed exclusively to official Konami tournament stores to reward participants, making this specific common rarity printing a standard utility piece for competitive players. The illustration, consistent with the original Japanese aesthetic, aims to balance the grandeur of the legendary bird with the functional readability required for a card game monster, resulting in a design that is both iconic to the franchise and deeply rooted in historical folklore.
