Gunkan Suship Ikura

Gunkan Suship Ikura debuted in the 2021 core booster set Burst of Destiny before being reprinted as a common in the 2022 Tin of the Pharaoh's Gods. The card is part of the Gunkan archetype, a creative series that reimagines sushi dishes as stylized, piloted naval vessels. This thematic blend of culinary aesthetics and nautical warfare was developed by Konami to offer a unique visual identity within the game, drawing inspiration from the popularity of conveyor belt sushi culture in Japan.

The design of the card reflects this fusion through its artwork, which depicts a battleship shaped like a gunkan-maki, or battleship roll, topped with salmon roe. The mechanical design of the ships, often featuring gun turrets and deck plating integrated into the sushi ingredients, highlights the playful, imaginative direction of the archetype's creative team. As a common rarity reprint in the 2022 tins, it served as an accessible utility piece for players looking to complete their Gunkan decks following the card's initial release.
