Hellebore the Rikka Fairy

Hellebore the Rikka Fairy was released in the 2020 booster set Secret Slayers, which introduced the Rikka archetype to the Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game. The archetype draws heavily on the language of flowers, known as hanakotoba, where each plant character embodies a specific personality trait or mythic role. Hellebore, named after a genus of winter-blooming flowers, was designed to function as a defensive support piece for the deck, utilizing the Rikka playstyle of tributing monsters to trigger powerful disruption effects.

The artwork for the card features a detailed, ethereal character design consistent with the 'fairy' type aesthetics prevalent in the set, characterized by flowing organic motifs and botanical armor. As a Super Rare card, it was produced as a mid-tier rarity within the Secret Slayers expansion, designed to be accessible to players building the Rikka deck while maintaining a distinct foil finish that highlights the intricate, soft-hued floral illustrations favored by the Konami design team for this specific archetype.
