Provenance

Where it came from

Mudan the Rikka Fairy was released in the 2020 Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game expansion Secret Slayers. This set introduced the Rikka archetype, a botanical-themed group of monsters inspired by the language of flowers and seasonal folklore. The card was designed to support a playstyle focused on Tributing monsters for effects, fitting into the overarching aesthetic of the set which sought to modernize plant-type gameplay mechanics.

The artwork for the Rikka series was crafted to evoke a delicate, ethereal atmosphere, contrasting sharply with the more aggressive designs typical of the game's competitive meta. Upon its release, Mudan was received as a functional lynchpin for the archetype, valued by players for its ability to search for Rikka backrow support. It remains a staple for collectors interested in the thematic depth of the Secret Slayers expansion.
