Helpoemer

Helpoemer first appeared in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game as part of the original Magician's Force expansion in 2003, before being reprinted in the 2016 Duelist Pack: Rivals of the Pharaoh. Designed by Konami, the card is based on a monster utilized by the character Marik Ishtar during the Battle City arc of the anime and manga. Its aesthetic reflects the dark, ancient Egyptian motif prevalent throughout the series, characterized by a jagged, skeletal appearance designed to evoke feelings of dread and impending loss.

The card's mechanical design centers on its graveyard-activated effect, which forces the opponent to discard a card at the end of the battle phase. This ability was intended to provide a tactical advantage through resource attrition, reflecting the ruthless playstyle associated with the villainous Marik. While it was once considered a formidable inclusion in competitive play, it has since transitioned into a collector's piece, valued more for its connection to the series' iconic antagonists than for its current utility in the modern, fast-paced game meta.
