Heroic Call

Heroic Call was released in the Battles of Legend: Crystal Revenge set, which debuted in late 2022 as a supplemental release for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game. This set was designed to bring imported cards from the Japanese OCG archives to international players, focusing on supporting specific legacy archetypes such as the Heroic Challenger series. The card serves as a thematic revival spell, designed to synergize with the Warrior-type 'Heroic' monster archetype by allowing players to special summon monsters from the graveyard, reinforcing the high-risk, high-reward playstyle typical of these deck builds.

The design of Heroic Call draws directly from the aesthetic established by the Heroic Challenger cards, which are inspired by traditional fantasy gladiators and warriors. By utilizing the Ultra Rare card treatment, the print features a distinctive glossy foil finish on the card art, which emphasizes the dramatic, action-oriented illustration style characteristic of the set's artistic direction. Upon its introduction, it was received primarily as a utility piece for niche rogue-tier decks, valued by collectors and competitive players for its ability to provide necessary consistency to the Heroic archetype.
