Hymn of Light

Hymn of Light was introduced in the 2014 Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG expansion set Duelist Alliance, a pivotal release that marked the beginning of the ARC-V era. This set is widely regarded by players as one of the most transformative in the game's history, as it introduced the Pendulum Summoning mechanic and significantly increased the overall power level and speed of competitive play. The card itself functions as a ritual spell designed to support the Herald of Perfection archetype, reflecting the thematic focus on light-attribute fairy monsters that defined many decks of that period.

The card was designed to facilitate the ritual summoning of Herald of Perfection, providing a necessary engine for players to search for specific monster components while simultaneously recycling resources from the graveyard. Its aesthetic follows the established visual language of the game's spell cards from the 5D's and Zexal eras, utilizing the bright, angelic iconography synonymous with the Herald series. Upon its release, it was received as a functional, utility-focused common card, serving as a staple inclusion for dedicated ritual-based strategies rather than a centerpiece of high-rarity collector interest.
