Where it came from
Hysteric Sign was originally released in the 2013 Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG expansion set Shadow Specters, serving as a pivotal support card for the Harpie archetype. The card was designed to stabilize the deck by providing a specialized search mechanism for Harpie Lady cards and a unique graveyard retrieval effect that triggers during the end phase, reinforcing the archetype's high-speed, combo-oriented playstyle.
The card was reprinted as an ultra-rare in the 2020 Duel Overload collection, a set renowned for featuring meta-relevant staples and high-demand support cards with variant art styles. This particular printing reflects the enduring popularity of Harpie-themed cards among legacy players, maintaining the original illustrative focus on Mai Valentine’s iconic aesthetic while standardizing the card's accessibility within the modern competitive framework.
