Infernoble Knight Captain Oliver

Infernoble Knight Captain Oliver was released in the 2020 expansion Phantom Rage, which served to bolster the themes introduced in Rise of the Duelist. The card belongs to the Infernoble Knight archetype, a sub-theme of the long-running Noble Knight series that reimagines legendary Arthurian figures through a fiery, warrior-centric lens. This particular design draws inspiration from the character of Ogier the Dane, a figure from the Matter of France cycle, blending the aesthetic of traditional medieval knights with the high-fantasy, flame-imbued visual style characteristic of the set.

The artwork and mechanics of the card were developed by the design team at Konami to emphasize the archetype's reliance on equip spells and graveyard synergy. As a synchro monster, Oliver was intended to provide utility by facilitating the recycling of resources, effectively serving as a tactical engine piece. Upon its introduction, the card was received by the competitive community as a technical support option that rewarded players for managing their resource cycles efficiently within the faster-paced environment of modern Yu-Gi-Oh! play.
