Virtual World Kyubi - Shenshen

Virtual World Kyubi - Shenshen was introduced in the 2020 Phantom Rage expansion set, which served as a significant update to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game. The card is a central piece of the Virtual World archetype, a theme inspired by digital aesthetics and Chinese mythology. Designed to function as a powerful disruption tool, Shenshen draws from a narrative context of data-driven spirits, reflecting the game's shift toward high-mobility synchro strategies during the ninth generation of card design.

The visual design of the card leans into the ethereal and futuristic motifs consistent with the Phantom Rage aesthetic. As a Secret Rare, the card features the distinct diagonal foil etching that characterizes high-rarity items from this era. It was received by the community as a cornerstone of competitive play, praised for its ability to modify the flow of the game by banishing cards sent to the graveyard, which forced players to adapt their tactical approaches to resource management.
