Where it came from
Infestation Pandemic was introduced as part of the Hidden Arsenal 7: Knight of Stars booster set, released in 2013. The set focused on reinforcing several archetypes, most notably the Evilswarm theme, which depicts a corrupted version of the Duel Terminal world. As a Quick-Play Spell, Infestation Pandemic was designed to provide the Evilswarm archetype with a vital defensive utility, allowing players to protect their high-level monsters from opponent card effects during critical moments of play.
The card’s artwork reflects the dark, aesthetic shift of the Evilswarm monsters, characterized by their metallic and infested appearance. Designed as a Secret Rare, the card features the distinct diagonal foil etching synonymous with the high-rarity cards found in the Hidden Arsenal series. Upon its release, it was widely praised by competitive players for its efficiency in maintaining board presence, becoming a staple requirement for any deck utilizing the Evilswarm engine.
