Jar of Avarice

Jar of Avarice was first introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in the 2015 set Crossed Souls, later being reprinted as a common card in the 2017 Machine Reactor Structure Deck. It serves as a spiritual successor to the infamous Pot of Avarice, designed to offer players a way to recycle resources from the graveyard into the deck while providing a secondary benefit of drawing a card. The card art features the iconic anthropomorphic jar character in a state of frantic accumulation, maintaining the series' long-standing visual theme of whimsical yet potent magical artifacts.

The card was designed by the creative team at Konami to function as a defensive utility trap. By requiring the player to target five cards in the graveyard to shuffle back, it provides a balanced form of deck thinning and resource management that is slower than its spell-based predecessor. Within the context of the Machine Reactor Structure Deck, it was included to help players recover key machine-type monsters and backrow support, reflecting the deck's focus on attrition and steady mechanical progression.
