Where it came from
Junk Warrior/Assault Mode was introduced as part of the Burst Protocol expansion, a set released to support the burgeoning themes of the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s card game era. It represents a specialized, high-power evolution of the iconic Junk Warrior monster, designed to showcase the 'Assault Mode' mechanic where a base monster is transformed into a potent, upgraded version through the specific trap card Assault Mode Activate.
The artwork follows the aesthetic established by the Duel Monsters design team, emphasizing a metallic, aggressive reimagining of the character. This card was received by the player base as a challenging strategic asset, requiring a dedicated deck build to utilize effectively. Its rarity as a super-rare pull in the Burst Protocol set made it a distinct highlight for collectors focused on the Synchro-centric era of the game.
