Where it came from
Kozmotown was first introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in the 2015 set Clash of Rebellions, later appearing as a Secret Rare in the 2016 Premium Gold: Infinite Gold set. It serves as the central field spell for the Kozmo archetype, a deck themed around a conceptual fusion of Star Wars and The Wizard of Oz. The card was designed to provide essential consistency and resource management, allowing players to exchange cards from their hand for new draws while recovering banished monsters.
The artistic direction for the Kozmo series draws heavily from science fiction tropes, reimagining iconic Oz characters as pilots and droids. In the case of Kozmotown, the illustration depicts a sprawling, futuristic metropolis that evokes the aesthetic of a sci-fi space station or planetary city. Within the competitive community, the card is highly regarded for its utility, as its ability to mitigate the drawbacks of other Kozmo-themed effects made it a staple for any player piloting the archetype during its peak tournament relevance.
