Provenance

Where it came from

The Legend of Heart card was released in 2014 as part of the Dragons of Legend booster set, a release designed to bring cards previously featured only in the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime series into the official physical trading card game. This specific card represents the 'Legend of Heart' spell from the Waking the Dragons story arc, serving as a pivotal narrative tool used by the protagonist to unlock the legendary dragon forms of his ace monsters. Its inclusion in the set was highly anticipated by long-term fans who had waited over a decade to see these cinematic cards translated into playable mechanics.

The card's design features intricate artwork reminiscent of the high-fantasy aesthetic established by Kazuki Takahashi for the series' key spell and trap cards. As a Secret Rare, it is distinguished by its unique prismatic foil finish, which was a hallmark of the premium rarities in the Dragons of Legend set. Upon its release, the card was received as a niche collector's item, primarily valued by fans of the anime for its thematic significance rather than its immediate impact on competitive tournament play.
