Mask Change II

Mask Change II was first introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game as part of the Premium Gold: Infinite Gold set in 2016. This card functions as a more versatile iteration of the original Mask Change spell, allowing players to send any monster from their hand to the graveyard to special summon a Masked Hero monster of the same attribute from their extra deck. It was designed to provide greater flexibility for Hero-themed decks by removing the strict requirement of needing a specific monster on the field, thus making the Masked Hero archetype more resilient and dynamic in competitive play.

The card was released within the Premium Gold series, which was notable for its distinct Gold Rare foiling and its focus on reprinting staple cards alongside specific support cards to bolster various archetypes. The illustration features a stylized transition, consistent with the transformation theme of the Masked Hero series. While the card is a core utility tool for Hero deck enthusiasts, it arrived during a period where Hero strategies were already established as a staple, and it was generally received by the player base as a welcome, if situational, enhancement to the engine.
