Monster Gate

Monster Gate was introduced in the Ancient Sanctuary booster set, which was released in the TCG in 2004 to expand upon the themes of powerful mythological creatures and celestial beings. As a normal spell card, it was designed to provide players with a high-risk, high-reward method of board setup, forcing the player to tribute a monster and mill cards until a summonable monster is found, effectively thinning the deck while accelerating the field presence.

The card's design and mechanical intent reflect the era's focus on explosive, resource-heavy plays.
